Drema Brown is the Head of School of Children’s Aid College Prep Charter School, a community school she helped found in 2012 that serves over 600 K-8 students in the South Bronx. Prior to leading Children’s Aid College Prep, Drema served as the Vice President of the School Age Division at Children’s Aid, where she ensured high-quality educational services, social and emotional learning experiences, health, wellness and family supports to children ages 5-13. Before Children’s Aid, Drema worked at New Leaders, where she led the design, development and delivery of a leadership curriculum for its NYC and national principal training programs. Drema has been a public school teacher, principal and instructional coach in both district and charter school settings but she began her career as a youth worker in an after school and summer program in New Haven, CT in 1992. She holds an Ed.M. from Harvard in Teaching and Curriculum, a B.A. from Yale in English and has plans to complete a Ph.D. in Education Policy and Leadership at the CUNY Graduate Center.
