Dr. Kristin Black, Facilitator

Dr. Kristin Black is a postdoctoral fellow and instructor at New York University, where she supports an ongoing data collaboration between the Research Alliance for New York City Schools, the City University of New York, and the New York City Department of Education. Dr. Black’s research focuses on student transitions from high school to college. Her work has described large-scale patterns of college-going in NYC, as well as the classroom practices that support highly valued postsecondary literacies. Dr. Black has taught for fifteen years in colleges and high schools, and her work has appeared in the Journal for Adolescent and Adult Literacy and Assessing Writing. Dr. Black holds a Ph.D. in English Education from New York University, as well as a B.A. and M.A. in English Literature and Language from the University of Virginia.
