Dexter believes the health of the public and specifically our children are the utmost importance to a society. Originally from the beautiful Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago, Dexter came to the U.S. to pursue his Masters in Public Health. After conducting research on childhood obesity at a NY hospital, Dexter discovered the complicated relationship between health and socioeconomic status. He is excited to make a difference in the South Bronx at the Youth Engagement Center. Dexter’s favorite memory growing up is following his big brother out to the park to play soccer and - even though he was younger than everyone - being accepted to play in the local tournament.
